As always when manufacturing products there are a few that don't quite make the cut. These peels may have a small repair job in the wood, strange grain markings, possibly a dent here or there. A nice opportunity to pick up an imperfect yet perfectly functional bit of kit on the cheap. This price is for a single peel.

For as long as I can remember I have been using neat rectangular peels like these to slide my oval sourdough loaves into the oven. Whether you are making just one loaf at a time or sliding two in the oven side by side, these peels offer maximum control and won’t take up too much room in your kitchen.

These peels are made of Birch wood ply, designed to be lightweight and easy to fit in your kitchen cupboard or drawer with a tapered edge to help slide underneath dough and fully baked loaves.

If you are loading long loaves made in oval banneton baskets, this peel is the one.

Available singly or as a pack of two for those of you baking two loaves on the regular just like me. They are natural wood products, and we’ll do our best to pick two that match for you.

37cm long, 15cm wide and 4mm thick.

Care & Maintenance

Avoid water when cleaning these and instead remove excess dough with a dough scraper and excess flour with a brush just like your banneton baskets.

These will arrive to you in their natural unfinished state, which is exactly how we use them in class, and can be treated with a food grade mineral oil for a more hard-wearing finish if you wish!

Not designed for extended exposure to the heat of your oven or for use as a cutting board.
