Thursday April 23rd 2026: Great British Bread Course

Book

I have many a nostalgic memory of popping into a local bakery for a thickly sliced sandwich and sticky bun right here, in Great Britain. On this course we will be celebrating these traditional, heartwarming breads while you hand craft your own.

We’ll use universal principles combined with old-school techniques to make our breads worthy of a bakery window, all the while drinking plenty of tea.

Suitable for home bakers of all abilities

After this course you’ll have a solid understanding of:

The trickier-than-it-may seem crafting of the classic free-standing bloomer. Why we score it when we do and the perfect moment to bake it.

How to create the lightest and stickiest of Chelsea buns what makes our home-made version far superior always.

How an old piece of dough improves almost every desirable quality of homemade bread every time.

How to incorporate cheese into, and on top of bread dough to create the softest cheesy baps.

Why making bread without kneading is sometimes a better choice.

What makes the traditional Chelsea Bun recipe perfect for customising at home with your own signature flavour combinations.

We’ll Make:

A selection of Great British Classics including a Poppy Seed Bloomer, sticky Chelsea Buns and no knead warm from the oven Cheesy Baps.

Your ticket includes

A six-hour relaxed bread making course with teas, coffees and homemade biscuits (or sometimes cake)

Plenty of time for questions

All your breads and recipes to take home

A proper lunch with fresh bread

Bake with Jack Kitchen Studio
