June in the HomeBaker’s Club…
Hello Homebaker!
I hope you are still enjoying last months raspberry iced buns and sun-dried tomato sourdough bread, this month I bring to you two more completely unique and fun to shape breads.
Pretzels
Nothing tastes quite like a pretzel. They have this chewy and crunchy characteristic that doesn’t exist anywhere else thanks to a hot alkaline bath before baking and although they may sound tricky to make you will be surprised at just how straight forward the process is. Homemade pretzels are an absolute delight, and I urge you to try this one!
Cottage Loaf
This buttery British loaf comes with plenty of character in it’s always ever-so-slightly jaunty angle. A loaf balanced upon another loaf might sound impossible (and possibly unnecessary) but it’s a nice challenge and a little bit of fun to see just how things turn out! The final loaf is light, tight crumbed and crusty.
And in the “with bread” section
In the great British spirit of the cottage loaf, I’d also like to shine a light on the traditional bread pudding, a sweet treat made with very little and a great way to use up excess bread. And to do your pretzels justice, a warm and silky mustard and cheese dip for dunking.
These recipes are brought to you in the spirit of fun. This month celebrate your slightly wonky cottage loaves and creatively tangled pretzels, make them and enjoy them.
See you in class :-)
